Yeshe Salz is a 3rd year Comparative Literature major currently serving as the Travel Section’s Editor in Chief. She caught the travel bug in utero and subsequent adventures to Argentina, India, Nepal, Guatemala, Paraguay, all across Europe and North America and frequent trips to her family’s ranch in Mexico have profoundly shaped her identity over time.
When not exploring jungles or wandering down cobble-stoned streets, Yeshe can be found reading in bookstores, scribbling on the backs of pieces of paper, practicing yoga or backpacking/road tripping through the many natural wonderlands of California.
Johanna Bankston is a senior at UC Berkeley and is The Travel Section blog editor and will be graduating this Spring with a dual degree in Society & Environment and Latin American Studies. Johanna's first travel experience was to Guatemala City at age fifteen, a brief but meaningful trip that inspired her studies of Latin America and Spanish and resulted in many return trips to the country's coast and countryside. Her most memorable travel experience was a summer study abroad at the University of Guanajuato in Mexico that helped her find her love of pre-colombian art and sculpture, which she will be pursuing an art history masters degree in. In her free time, Johanna loves to bury herself in cafes to nurse her caffeine addiction and get through a good book, she also loves exploring the bay area's many art, history, and science museums as well as its beautiful hiking trails.
